Located in the quiet Gandhi Path neighborhood of Jaipur, Josephs International School was founded in 2006 with the mission to provide no-fee, high quality English Medium learning to poor, vulnerable, and at-risk children who might otherwise be excluded from the educational experience.
The inspiration for this bold experiment in socially conscious education was born from the experiences of founder Sonali Jacob, M.A.B. Ed who, along with her husband Rakesh Joseph, began caring for street children from the nearby slum district of Giridharipura, teaching them English and basic skills. This initiative soon gained the attention of other like minded educators, and within a few short years, a fully-accredited, English Medium school became a reality.
Today,
Josephs International School is an internationally recognized success story, graduating young men and women to positive futures, with satellite learning programs in Jaipur as well as Chhattisgarh, Orissa, and Assam. In 2015, the Still Waters in A Storm School in Brooklyn, New York (USA), became an official "friendship school". Learn more about this...

"Rabindranath Tagore once wrote that 'The highest education is
that which does not merely give us information, but makes our
life in harmony with all existence.' This definition is an appropriate
description of our aims and the goals of our curriculum. Our
school exists to raise students from very poor and disadvantaged
circumstances to participation, contribution, and potential. Since
our founding, this vision has guided the progress and development
of our school to great impact for the children, their families, and
the communities from which they come."
- Sonali Jacob, M.A. & M. Ed, school founder and director
"The principle goal of education must be to
createwomen and men who are capable
of doing new things, not simply of repeating
what other generations have done."
- Jean Piaget, Swiss cognitive psychologist
Educators like Jean Piaget have gone ahead of us
and left behind a legacy and methodology that is
an important part of our school's success. As
director, I see my role as not merely to ensure
that the adequate and accurate facts and figures
are transmitted to students, but that they are
instilled with a world view that allows them to
think new thoughts and create new possibilities.
Reaching one's potential is not about bettering
what already is, but is about reaching what is
yet to be."
